DVD Scramble

CSS stream cipher · two LFSRs and an adder

Step two real LFSRs, observe their carry, and recover the book’s 40-bit CSS variant from known keystream bytes.

WHY IT MATTERS

Adding two small registers did not make a strong 40-bit cipher. An invertible byte adder lets a guess of one register determine the other.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. — 1 Corinthians 10:31
